Dogs must be at least 3 lb./3 months old to be spayed/neutered at the clinic. All dogs will be given a brief exam, ear cleaning, subcutaneous fluids if necessary and nail trim as part of the cost of the spay/neuter. There is no extra charge for dogs who are in heat or pregnant.

Nutmeg provides special pricing for clients who provide participation in the following programs: food stamps, Husky A, unemployment compensation, SSI, Medicaid among other programs. Clients must provide proof that they are currently in any of these programs in order to be eligible for the listed prices.

Nutmeg will provide a special rate for full-breed pit bulls, which includes American pit bull terrier, American Staffordshire terrier and Staffordshire bull terrier. If a dog is deemed a pit bull mix by our staff, the price for a spay/neuter will be adjusted to the low-income rate, depending on the weight of the dog.

Vaccinations are offered only at the time of surgery. Connecticut state law requires that all companion animals be vaccinated for rabies once per year. If a dog is already vaccinated at the time of spay/neuter, the client must provide proof of vaccination via a certificate or a rabies vaccine will be given at the charge listed below.
